In collaboration with the Municipality of General Pueyrredón and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Chair of Architecture and Urban Design of Prof. Alfredo Brillembourg and Prof. Hubert Klumpner has designed a new civic center for Mar del Plata. The CCMP is part of the IDB Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative (ESCI).
The new civic center is part of the overall strategic plan for the northwest area of ar del Plata and is composed of an 8,000 sm town hall and public park.
The building integrates an administrative and municipal headquarters with necessary and important cultural functions, meeting socio-cultural needs through ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable techniques. The project consists of two inter-connected, parallel bars that host the municipal and social functions while providing a dynamic, accessible, and productive public space in and around the building.
This new space will represent the new social, cultural, and municipal core of Mar del Plata.
